Seals point of view
Ever wondered what the seals’ perspective is of our boats? Last month the Phillip Island Nature Parks research team visited Seal Rocks and took the above photo of our boat the Kasey Lee (Photo by General Manager Conservation at Phillip Island Nature Parks Jessica MacKelson).
Wildlife Coast Cruises have been operating the Seal Watching cruises since 1995, we are proud to be an advanced accredited eco-tourism company with Conservation and Education as our core philosophy.
By adhering to strict marine mammal tour regulations we ensure the safety of wildlife, whilst providing genuine and inspiring wildlife encounters. The seals at Seal Rocks are well accustomed to our boats and often show curiosity to see the humans on board, some daily people-watching!
We work closely with The Phillip Island Nature Parks, who have a dedicated research team who study the Australian Fur Seals on various aspects, including; pupping success, population dynamics, entanglement threats, as well as foraging habits and diet.
Did you know that they study seal’s diet by collecting their scats? Yes, a yucky but very important job!
Join us on a Seal Cruise this summer to ‘meet’ the locals!
