Playful whales
Humpback whales can be very playful and are often very curious about objects in the water; we have had some fantastic interactions on our Wilsons Prom Whale cruises this month!
Some whales have approached the boat, others have been tail-slapping and breaching, and some just wanted to play with seaweed. This subadult humpback whale delicately placed a large strand of seaweed on its rostrum, and spy-hopped high out of the water, as if to ask “So, what do you think, how do I look in this?”.
Sadly, their curiosity can get them into trouble, when they get entangled in plastics and netting adrift in the ocean. Please help protect the whales by eliminating, reducing and reusing plastics.
We have a few more weeks left of Prom Whale Cruises – join us on board to witness these curious and playful creatures.
